Margot Reavey

Senior Orchestra Conductor

Margot Reavey currently serves as the Orchestra Director in the Belmont Public Schools, just outside of Boston, MA. She teaches over 250 students in grades 5 through 12, and conducts five school orchestras. During her 15-year tenure in Belmont, the string program has been the recipient of numerous grants to bring in performing artists showcasing classical and alternative styles. Her middle school and high school orchestras have repeatedly earned Gold Medals at the MICCA Music Festival, and have been invited to perform at the Massachusetts MEA All-State Concert Hours in recent years.

In addition to her work in the Belmont Schools, Mrs. Reavey has conducted the Rivers Conservatory Preparatory Orchestra (part of the Rivers Youth Orchestras), the MassMEA Western Junior District Orchestra Festival, and most recently Maine District II Senior Orchestra. She is the Past-President of the MA-ASTA Chapter (American String Teachers Association). She held previous positions as Orchestra Director of the Belmont Saturday Morning Music School, Assistant Director of the Hartt String Project in Hartford, CT, and Assistant Director of the Portland String Quartet Summer Workshop held at St. Joseph's College in Standish, ME.

Mrs. Reavey received a B.A. in Music Performance and Politics from Oberlin College and an MMEd from The Hartt School, University of Hartford. Mrs. Reavey originally hails from Midcoast Maine and enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. When she's not conducting, you'll find her cooking, going on long scooter-walks with her kids, or binge-watching the latest Netflix series.
