FINANCIAL AID
There are two kinds of financial aid a camper can apply for: The Megan Walker Memorial Scholarship and General Financial Aid. Each scholarship has different requirements. The Southern Maine String Camp Scholarship Committee awards scholarship funds to campers.
The Megan Walker Memorial Scholarship
The Megan Walker Scholarship is intended to honor those who relish the challenge of excellence and who enjoy their musical activities to the fullest.
Who Can Apply: Maine residents who have attended Southern Maine String Camp for at least one summer. A partial scholarship will be awarded to one camper who is in high school and one camper who is in middle school who can meet the above criteria and has a strong teacher recommendation.
Application Deadline: June 15th
Please upload the following documents:
Financial aid form.
Teacher recommendation. This should be a letter from the teacher supporting the camper's qualifications for the scholarship.
An essay written by the camper that describes why they meet the requirements highlighted in the statement above.
The non-refundable $100.00 registration deposit must be paid before this application can be considered. No incomplete applications will be considered. You will be notified of your award by July 1st.
General Financial Aid
Who can apply: Anyone with a financial need
Application Deadline: June 15th
Please upload the following documents:
Financial aid form.
Teacher recommendation. This should be a letter from the teacher supporting the camper's qualifications for the scholarship.
A short essay written by the camper saying why you want to attend SMSC and why you should be considered for a scholarship.
A statement of need written by the parent(s).
A brief musical resume including any solo and ensemble playing experience.
The non-refundable $100.00 registration deposit must be paid before this application can be considered. No incomplete applications will be considered. You will be notified of your award by July 1st.
