Bill Bell

Intermediate Orchestra Conductor

William Bell is a native Presque Isle, Maine and currently resides in the Bangor area. Mr. Bell began teaching in 2004 and is nearing 20 years of teaching music in Maine schools. He is currently the Orchestra Director for the Bangor School Department, a position he has held for the last 18 years. Mr. Bell currently teaches violin, viola, cello and bass in grades 5 - 12, as well as the middle and high school string ensembles. Over the years the high school orchestra has won several awards at festivals in New York, New Hampshire and Washington D.C. He also teaches Guitar and Music Theory at the high school level, and has taught violin and viola privately in the area for many years.  

Mr. Bell holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Maine. Mr. Bell spent that time studying viola and violin performance and their related pedagogy under the tutelage of Dr. Anatole Wieck, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music in New York. Mr. Bell has been a violist and violinist with the Bangor Symphony over the years as well as numerous performances with other groups all over the state of Maine. Mr. Bell also conducted the Bangor Youth Symphony Orchestra during his time in graduate school from 2002 - 2004.
