Alec Stewart began studying the violin at age 4 under the instruction of Connie Hagen. Growing up in Duxbury, Massachusetts, Alec was an active member of his local music program performing in the Duxbury High School String Ensemble and the Bay Youth Symphony Orchestra. After high school, Alec attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study mathematics and computer science. During his time at MIT, Alec performed in the Pit Orchestra for the MIT Musical Theatre Guild. Currently, Alec continues to play for his own enjoyment while pursuing his other favorite pastimes of sailboat racing and reading. He is very excited to be joining the SMSC staff this year as a counselor!
