Kayley Clark started playing the cello at age 9 in Barre, Massachusetts. Continuing her love of the instrument, she took private lessons two years later with Mary Carfagna. Her music life was busy for the following seven years as a member of the Maplewind Youth Orchestra and String Theory (an all-cellist fiddle group). With MYO, under the direction of Dr. Russell Killough-Miller, Kayley was able to travel to Boston, Burlington VT, Washington DC, Orlando FL, and Quebec City performing in local schools, city halls, and community churches to promote the joy of music. Her travel bug grew and she had the opportunity to study music history and performance abroad in Vienna, Austria (one of the greatest music cities in the world!). Kayley is currently finishing her undergraduate degree in Music Education at USM, studying under William Rounds on cello. She has been performing with the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra, USM Composer's Ensemble, and other small Chamber groups. Kayley has been an avid camper nearly every summer since the age of six at Camp Chenoa for Girl Scouts of NH, and is so happy and honored to be joining the staff at SMSC for another exciting summer! Kayley plans on teaching in Maine as well as teaching abroad in her future.
