Sarah Hoag, Junior Orchestra Conductor

Sarah began Suzuki violin studies at age four with Margaret Hopkins and continued studies with Ronald Lantz of the Portland String Quartet.  In the fall of 2013, Sarah graduated Cum Laude from Ithaca College, NY with the double degree Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and Music Education. At Ithaca, Sarah studied violin with Nicholas DiEugenio, and performed with the Ithaca College Symphony and Chamber Orchestra. Sarah is teaching violin and viola privately in Southern Maine and group violin lessons at Kennebunkport Consolidated School and Kennebunk Elementary School. As of 2015, Sarah has been the orchestra director and general music teacher at Saco Middle School. In the summers, she is involved with the Portland String Quartet Workshop at St. Joseph’s College in Standish. Sarah first attended SMSC when she was ten and continued attending for four more years.  She gained valuable experience in ensemble playing and has many great memories of string camp during those summers.  Sarah has been on the SMSC faculty since 2011.
