Dan Keller, Intermediate Orchestra Conductor


Dan holds a Bachelor of Music Education, Masters of Music and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Public Administration. He taught of ten years in the Caribou Public Schools and twenty eight years in the Waterville Public Schools. He has been inducted into the Maine Music Educators Association Hall of Fame and the National Music Hall of Fame for Music Educators.

In the past Dan had been principal violist with the Colby Symphony Orchestra, and conductor of the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra and Portland Junior Youth Ensemble. Currently, Dan is a co-conductor for the Mid Maine Youth Orchestra.

Dan has coached Nordic skiing, track and cross-country. He has been a set and lighting designer, music pit conductor, visual and performing arts chair, district music curriculum coordinator and an outing club advisor of over thirty years.

Past employment has been a light bulb technician at a mental health facility, fish monger at a seal tank and gandy dancer for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. Dan resides in the Belgrade Lakes region with his long suffering wife and their dysfunctional cats.
