Carrie Young

Carrie is a bassist and music educator who grew up in a small town near Concord, NH. She took up electric bass at age 14, studying with Ray Lassonde. She quickly discovered her passion for music while in high school, participating in every music ensemble and course available. As a junior, Carrie took on the double bass and decided to pursue a career in Music Education at the University of New Hampshire, where she studied with John Hunter and graduated in 2012 with a degree in Music Education. Carrie started her teaching career in 2012 as a K-5 music educator at Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School in Hillsborough, NH, until 2016 when she was hired as a middle school Orchestra director and general music teacher at Keene Middle School in Keene, NH. Carrie also enjoys playing bass for local community theater productions, and performing with the Southern New Hampshire University Orchestra. This is Carrie’s first summer with SMSC and she looks forward to a great week of music, swimming, games, and more!
